The Secret to Success in Crypto: What Comes Next for Sui?

The key of success in crypto not about reacting to what’s happening right now—it’s about what is coming next.

Right now, everyone is focus on Solana, because former President Trump recently launched a meme coin on its blockchain. But if we look ahead, we might see a major rotation into Sui. Why? Sui has some interesting connections—one of Trump’s sons reportedly holds Sui, and the blockchain even sponsored Trump’s inauguration. behind that, Sui has big plans for 2025, and that’s exactly what we’ll be diving into today.

We’ll go over what Sui has been up to, what its future roadmap looks like, and how high the SUI coin could go as a result.

A Quick Disclaimer

Before we jump in, let’s get one thing straight—this article is not financial advice. It’s purely educational, meant to inform you about Sui and its developments. Also, it’s worth mentioning that several members of the Coin Bureau team hold SUI in their personal crypto portfolios. That said, do your own analysis before investing.

Let’s dive in.

What’s Been Happening with Sui?

It’s been over five months since we last covered Sui, and a lot has changed.

September 2023: The Sui Play Handheld and the Native Bridge

Back in September, Sui started accepting pre-orders for its Sui Play handheld gaming device, which is expected to ship soon. The device will support both Web2 and Web3 games, marking the first step in Sui’s strategy for mass adoption. Their three-phase plan includes:

  1. Gaming adoption
  2. Increasing the total value locked (TVL) on the blockchain
  3. Expanding into commerce use cases

Also in September, Sui launched its native bridge, allowing assets to move between chains more seamlessly. This is part of its broader effort to compete with blockchains like Solana. Around the same time, Sui introduced Walrus, a new storage solution. Walrus’ testnet launched in October, and the mainnet is expected sometime this year.

Interestingly, Tusky, a decentralized Dropbox-like project built on Walrus, has already seen over a million uploads and 60,000 users on the testnet. Even better? Walrus will have its own token, WAL, which will likely be airdropped to early testnet users.

Airdrops could be a huge catalyst for Sui, especially if Trump’s administration adjusts U.S. crypto regulations to make them more accessible.

October 2023: USDC Integration and Network Outage

In October, Sui made another major move by integrating native USDC and adopting Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), which allows for easy movement of USDC between blockchains. Theoretically, this should have boosted TVL on Sui, but stablecoin adoption remained stagnant—something we’ll revisit later.

However, the most controversial event in October was an unexpected network outage. The Sui team later explained that it was caused by a single abnormal transaction that validators couldn’t process. While this raised concerns, it didn’t stop major players from backing Sui.

November 2023: Big Institutional Interest

November brought some interesting developments. Asset manager VanEck launched a Sui investment product, possibly hinting at a future Sui ETF. Around the same time, FDUSD stablecoin, which is affiliated with Binance, launched on Sui.

However, the biggest news came when Franklin Templeton, one of the world’s largest asset managers, announced a partnership with Sui. This signaled that institutional players are taking the blockchain seriously.

December 2023: The Phantom Wallet Integration

In December, things started looking even more bullish. The biggest announcement? Phantom Wallet is adding support for Sui.

Phantom is the most popular Solana wallet, over 7 million monthly active users—even the Coinbase app in downloads. This integration will make it much easier for users to interact with Sui’s ecosystem and could set the stage for a major rivalry between Solana and Sui.

Developers on Solana have even hinted that if they ever needed to migrate, they’d likely choose Sui over alternatives like Base, mainly because Sui’s Move programming language is based on Rust, just like Solana’s.

The Price Action: Where Could SUI Go?

In our last Sui update, we predicted that SUI would rally to $3-$4. However, it far exceeded expectations, hitting $5.40 in early January. Interestingly, this rally coincided with Kevin Boone’s appointment as the new President of Mysten Labs, the company behind Sui.

Analyzing the data, Sui’s rally doesn’t appear to be retail-driven. Instead, it looks like Sui whales have been the main drivers of price action. These whales have been borrow against SUI to buy more SUI, creating leverage-driven price spikes.  this strategy can push prices higher in the short term, it isn’t sustainable long-term.

So, where does SUI go from here?

  • Short-term (next few weeks): If retail interest picks up, SUI could reach $10. If it doesn’t, $6.40 might be the cap.
  • Long-term (next few months): Our target remains $20-$25. If SUI follows Solana’s last cycle, it could hit an $80 billion market cap, translating to a $20-$24 price per SUI.
  • Extreme bullish case: If GameFi takes off, SUI could potentially reach $40-$50.

Sui’s 2025 Roadmap

Sui’s co-founder, Adeniyi Abiodun, recently outlined some major plans for 2025, including:

  • Mysten Setti v2 – An upgrade that will exponentially improve blockchain speed.
  • Walrus mainnet launch – Expected in Q1 2025, bringing decentralized storage solutions.
  • Kelp Protocol – A new tool making it easier to interact with dApps and recover wallets.
  • Sui Play official launch – The gaming device could ship around March 2025, potentially driving mass adoption.
  • Gaming Summit in March – Over 70 games are set to launch on Sui Play next year.

Challenges Sui Faces

Despite its potential, Sui does have challenges:

  1. Centralization: While this allows it to move fast, it could also be a major point of failure.
  2. Competition: Solana has solidified its place as the go-to blockchain for meme coins, while Base is focusing on AI agents. Sui needs to carve out its own FOMO factor—possibly through airdrop incentives.
  3. Sui Play’s success is critical: If the handheld device flops due to delays, bugs, or exploits, it could significantly damage Sui’s reputation.

Final Thoughts

Many of us at Coin Bureau hold SUI in our portfolios because it’s one of the most promising cryptos right now. Its centralized structure, though controversial, has allowed it to leapfrog competitors.

With Trump’s pro-crypto stance, Sui’s strong connections, and a potential GameFi explosion, SUI’s future is looking bright. If it successfully executes its roadmap, we could see a huge upside in 2025.

We’ll keep you posted on Sui’s next moves. In the meantime, stay tuned for our next deep dive. 🚀
